1959 saw the birth of Laguna Niguel as one of California 's first master planned communities. The extension of the San Diego I-5 Freeway and Crown Valley Parkway has attracted potential homebuyers who want a peaceful, tranquil community to settle down and raise a family. On Dec. 1, 1989 , Laguna Niguel became Orange County 's 29th city and continues to flourish.

Laguna Niguel has two community parks and several other neighborhood parks in addition to one community swimming pool and a variety of recreational trails.
